3 Books To Read and Why

Joshua Medcalf is an author who has written many books about leadership, mental training, and the process of life.

Hands down this book will keep you intrigued the whole way through. It is a narrative about a young man who learns the process is more important than the outcome. It is fairly short and I would say this book is for all ages, especially young athletes that are still growing.

Why you should read it: Throughout the book he experiences a lot of ups and downs, and he believes that there is one formula to success, however, he learns that there isn’t and it turns out what he wants is a lot harder than he expected.

This book is written by Angela Duckworth who is a Psychology professor at The University of Pennsylvania. Grit is about how talent is not enough, and our ability to persevere over time will create results.

Why you should read it: This is a commonly known phrase “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.” But Professor Duckworth backs this phrase with science and statistics that will motivate you to work a little bit harder and keep going for the long haul.

Why I love this book: Daniel Lubetsky the CEO of KIND bars provides wisdom into how to build a successful business without losing your soul. He goes into depth on his family life and

what they had been through, as his father was a Holocaust survivor. Throughout building of KIND he had many setbacks, and also some manufacturing trials. They wanted to maintain certain curriculum for their bars, such as less sugar, but also maintain the good taste.

Why you should read it: This book is very inspiring and if you are trying to build a business, he talks about KIND’s business model and their philosophy on taking risks, and often taking the road less traveled will result in something greater.

I hope you will check out at least one of these books, as it will definitely motivate you with a new perspective.

xoxo, GiGi
